Animals Australia Investigation into Chicken Industry

Animals Australia recently conducted an investigation into one of Australia’s largest chicken meat producers. What our investigators witnessed would shock any caring Australian — crippled baby birds gasping for air and suffering from heart failure, starvation and thirst. The chicken industry estimates that every year 20 million baby birds suffer and die from these conditions before they reach slaughter age of just 6 weeks. These casualties are factored into the economics of factory farming systems that aim to grow birds as quickly and cheaply as possible in order to supply all the major chicken meat companies, including Steggles and Inghams.

This is the investigation that the chicken meat industry doesn’t want you to know about. What is most shocking of all, is that the cruelty witnessed by Animals Australia investigators is routine practice and happens every day inside factory farms across the country.
