6 battery hens were rescued. UPROAR does not endorse or promote
any commercial egg production both battery or 'free range' for the
following reasons:
* Half the chicks hatched are male and are
killed at one day old by the egg industry because they'll never lay
eggs. They are macerated in industrial blenders, suffocated in
plastic bags or drowned in buckets.
* All laying hens used in
commercial egg production are slaughtered prematurely when their
economic productivity decreases.
* The parents of all egg
laying hens (both battery and free range) are locked in breeding
sheds. The hens in these sheds are mated continually making their
backsides completely raw and swollen. The floor is often covered
with a thick layer of excrement causing the air to be toxic with
ammonia.

Many people don't realise hundreds of thousands of rabbits are
imprisoned in bare wire cages all over Australia, millions more
worldwide (approximately 865 million) just to be slaughtered for
their flesh and fur. The truth is that farmed rabbits suffer in just
the same way as other intensively reared animals. These rabbits will
never experience fresh air, grass under their feet, or the chance to
run, jump or dig.
UPROAR does not endorse or promote 'humane'
or 'free range' meat.

Brooklyn the baby lamb was rescued by UPROAR and saved from
slaughter at an abattoir.
UPROAR believes there is no
'humane' way to kill the billions of animals required to supply meat
to an ever growing human population and it is naive to suppose
otherwise. While humans continue to demand meat, animals will die in
horrific and agonizing ways.
UPROAR does not endorse or
promote 'humane' or 'free range' meat.

UPROAR rescue team joined CADS (Coalition Against Duck Shooting)
on the opening morning of the duck season, and illegally entered the
wetlands to move birds away before shooters arrived. We distracted
shooters, explained to shooters why we are opposed to the
unnecessary killing of birds, as well as making creative use of our
signs, 'Big Gun, Little Dick', 'Coward' and 'Animal Abuser'. We wore
bright coloured clothing for our safety and to alert the birds of
the dangers below. If you support the permanent banning of duck
shooting in Victoria please visit: www.duck.org.au
