Competição realizada aos domingos será investigada por crime ambiental e contravenção

O Ministério Público Estadual abriu inquérito para investigar maus-tratos a animais durante uma competição conhecida por "corrida de bois de canga" ou "carreira de bois", realizada aos domingos no município de Vale Verde, no Vale do Rio Pardo.

Documentadas por Zero Hora, as imagens dos flagrantes também foram mostradas ontem pelo Jornal do Almoço da RBS TV. Para estimular os animais a fazerem força, homens usavam pedaços de pau com pregos nas pontas, que eram fincados nas paletas dos bichos.

No último domingo, a competição ocorreu na propriedade da família do prefeito da cidade, Emir Rosa da Silva, que assistiu à disputa. Pessoas se reuniram ao redor da "cancha" antes de os bois se enfrentarem.

Um grupo organizava apostas em dinheiro. O clima era de animação. Numa área de cerca de cem metros quadrados, um poste fixado ao solo sustentava uma junta de bois que servia para firmar os dois animais que participavam da disputa - eles foram colocados em uma canga, estrutura de madeira utilizada para unir dois animais usados na tração de carroças ou para arar a terra.

� Fico indignada com a malvadeza que os homens fazem com os animais, que são totalmente irracionais � disse a promotora.

O prefeito de Vale Verde confirmou que assistiu à disputa, mas garante que não percebeu a prática de maus-tratos. Ele disse que a competição serve para divertir a comunidade. Informa ainda que vai se reunir com a associação que organiza as corridas e informar o que está acontecendo.
