"Four activists from EligeVeganismo [ChooseVeganism] entered one of the many pig-fattening farms of a well-known Chilean animal exploiting company in the early morning hours of November 7 in order to rescue two of them after a long period of investigation. A period which has shown us the more sinister face of slavery and the thousands of silent victims of fear and pain.

Transport trucks traveled to various slaughterhouses along the highway, filled with adult pigs on their way to death: in the midst of this scene, which was so much in contrast with our purposes, the three activists from the rescue and investigation team of our organization entered one of the sheds and took two male pigs born just three months ago, to give them a chance to live a new life, with a vegan family who will care for them and where they will be treated as what they are: sensitive, sentient beings with unique interests and personalities, worthy of respect.

We have left behind thousands, with faces similar to those in the photos. Curious, confused and longing for their mothers' warmth; we do not have homes or the ability to help all of them, but we can prevent new generations from living and dying in silence, subjected to this injustice.

Hemos dejado atrás a miles de ellos, rostros similares a los de estas fotos. Curiosos, confundidos y deseosos del calor de sus madres; no tenemos hogares ni capacidad para ayudarles a todos, pero si podemos evitar que nuevas generaciones vivan y mueran en el silencio, sometidos a esta injusticia.

El veganismo es la decisión más importante que podemos tomar para frenar su explotación. Un simple cambio en nuestra dieta y algo de paciencia con nosotros mismos durante la transición, son la clave para hacer una diferencia esencial en sus vidas. Sé vegano y activista.

Dedicamos este rescate a nuestro compañero Fernando Droguett, que se recupera positivamente de su accidente. Esperamos que la libertad de estos dos cerdos sean un aliciente para él en este largo y difícil proceso.

El equipo de rescates de EligeVeganismo ha rescatado a cara descubierta durante las primeras horas de la mañana del 09 de abril a tres conejas y una cobaya desde un centro de explotación animal de la región metropolitana.

Alelí, Eu, Tamborcita (tres conejas jóvenes) y Abril (la única cobaya del grupo) vivían junto a un centenar de individuos de diversas especies tales como aves, peces y otro tipo de roedores para ser comercializados a su vez como animales de compañía y como comida. Una actitud frecuente de incoherencia y contradicción propia de nuestra cultura especista.

Sus jaulas eran compartidas por seis o siete animales y se encontraban apiladas una sobre otra, recibiendo constantemente sobre sí los excrementos de sus compañeros que se encontraban más arriba.

Producto de las rejillas de las incómodas cajas de metal que hasta hoy habían sido su hogar, pudimos comprobar como les ha costado en principio moverse con soltura en tierra firme. Poco ha poco fueron adquiriendo agilidad y confianza para disfrutar de una nueva vida.

Las cuatro hembras fueron sacadas de sus jaulas y trasladadas de inmediato a sus hogares temporales, donde se encontrarán por algunos días para brindarles los cuidados necesarios y evaluar su estado actual de salud antes de ser llevadas a sus hogares definitivos.

Este se constituye como el segundo rescate abierto de EligeVeganismo, no siendo –sin embargo– el segundo que intentábamos realizar. Hemos sufrido derrotas y percances en el camino hasta este día, donde podemos ver con satisfacción a estos individuos libres y podemos nosotros mismos gozar a través de su felicidad. Y lo mencionamos porque queremos dar un mensaje claro: la única derrota posible para nosotros y para cualquier persona que luche por los Derechos de los Animales es dejar de esforzarse por materializar su libertad.

Animamos a todos los activistas a trabajar de manera seria, responsable y constante, intentándolo cuantas veces sea necesario para lograr acciones que reivindiquen efectivamente los intereses y derechos básicos de cada animal.

During the first week of March, the Medialuna Italo Cánepa rodeo arena, in the Lo Narváez area of Quilpué, was heavily damaged by fire. The quinchas-- the part of the arena where cows are pinned by a horse and rider-- and a part of the fence were destroyed by the flames.

According to local media, a few tires, and bottles with traces of fuel, were found at the site, items presumably used to carry out the attack. The slogan 'NO MAS MALTRATO ANIMAL' ('NO MORE ANIMAL ABUSE') was painted.
