MUMBAI, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- A number of illegal slaughter houses have been closed in India's commercial hub Mumbai following protests staged by members of an animal rights organisation.

The People for Animals said a team from the organisation prevented illegal slaughter of cows, bullocks and calves through vigilant patrolling of various illegal slaughter houses in and around Mumbai, Press Trust of India reported.
