Nagpur: Animal rights activists roughed up

NAGPUR: A bunch of police personnel, outnumbered by a sizable mob of butchers, were left helpless as two animal right activists were subjected to unbridled thrashing for trying to save 40 buffaloes on Tuesday. Cops later arrested eight of attackers charging them with riot, assault and threatening.

Kalamna police had a tough time quelling tension between two groups as senior political leaders and members of the legislative assembly-- Krishna Khopde and Vikas Kumbhare-- too joined in the melee with their supporters.
