From Anthony Damiano : I am aware that Lennox was merely one dog, a single drop in the vast sea of animal abuse that we are forced to witness, and they are forced to endure each day. Lennox's murder just happened to be an incredibly large "slap in the face" for advocates around the world, as he became the icon against breed specific legislation, globally. His death, this particular case, represented all that is wrong with humanity in regard to our biases, our treatment of life in general, especially that of other species, as well as our blatant implementation of selective compassion and apathy. We took away the life of a loving being, who just wanted to exist, simply because he looked a certain way. To the very last, Lennox would still show love to his abusers and captors(ultimately, his killers). It is important to reinforce this issue because annually, we do the very same thing to 56 billion land animals that we label as food items because of the way that they look(as well as what we can take from them), animals who just wish to exist, experience life and give love. In the end, a human employ of selective compassion for only certain lives has the pointed ability to reinforce the idea that we are despicable creatures. My understanding is that his assessment concluded that Lennox was not aggressive. His assessment was also ignored by the courts or not permissible in court. Not sure which one. Instead, the unqualified Peter Tallack's assessment was used instead. The other woman has been confirmed as Sandie Lightfoot. Here it is folks. This video has been marked private and the file has been sent to me anonymously for your viewing. The video, dated March 15th 2011, is of Sandie Lightfoot, the dog warden responsible for the chain of events that lead to Lennox's murder, and an unknown man. I work with dogs and I know them well, inside and out. I may not be a dog behaviourist but it's more than clear that in this video, Lennox is not showing any signs of aggression what so ever. Lightfoot and the BCC must be held accountable for their lies and deception. They must be held accountable for thumbing their nose to the mass outpouring from people around the world that begged for Lennox to be spared. They must be held accountable for destroying the Barnes family and messing about with a little girl's dog. Sadly, Lennox was murdered today at their hands. They kept this poor soul, a companion dog to a disabled young girl hostage for 2 years. Then, on July 10 (some believe much earlier in direct defiance of a court ordered stay) they murdered Lennox despite a global outcry and offers of sanctuary. Even then, when they could seem to show no more indifference, this group denied the family a last visit and the right to claim their family member's body. This illegal and heartless episode is only the tip of an ugly iceberg. Inadequate medical conditions, horrible concrete enclosures, sawdust on concrete floors and woefully filthy stalls warrant the closure of each and every so-called shelter facility in Belfast, the re-homing of all inmates jailed there and the recall/dismissal of the entire council. In the end, we believe it was pernicious (causing insidious harm or ruin;
injurious; hurtful) spite and revenge that motivated and drove this group of
disrespectful, dispicable *Troglodytes to persist in the killing of an
innocent dog and the torment of his devoted and loving family. The secrecy about where he was held, the refusal to let the family visit at any time, and especially to say goodbye, and then the refusal to return Lennox's body or collar as a keep-sake for the child who loved him so, speaks of evil misdeeds, conspiracy, lies and unconscionable injustice. The BCC had options and compassionate alternatives to this slaughter. They refused them all. In the US there was the case of football player Michael Vick's dogs who were all trained and used in dogfighting, where they fought to kill. After Vick was caught, most of those dogs were re-trained/re-habilitated and re-homed, becoming loving family members and couch potatoes. Lennox could very easily have been given sanctuary in the US or so many other countires where caring people offered him sanctuary and would have welcomed him with open, loving arms. Instead, these pathological miscreants, who were in a postion of power, gave the finger to the whole world. This was in accordance with the Order of the County Court which was affirmed by the Northern Ireland Court of Appeal. Whilst there is an exemption scheme to which dogs of this type (pit-bull terrier type) may be admitted as an alternative to destruction, there were no such measures that could be applied in this case that would address the concerns relating to public safety. The Council`s expert described the dog as one of the most unpredictable and dangerous dogs he had come across. Over the past two years, Council officials have been subjected to a sustained campaign of abuse including threats of violence and death threats. The Council has been in ongoing contact with the PSNI in relation to that. According to a video from savelennox.co.uk: On the 19th May 2010 Belfast City Council Dog Wardens Department forcibly removed Lennox from his loving, caring family home after measuring his rear legs and muzzle with a dress maker's tape measure (and) deemed him to be of a "Pit Bull Type" breed...Lennox's owner has done everything required by law as a responsible dog owner. As a puppy, Lennox's family had him insured, micro chipped, licensed, DNA registered, Pet Safe reigstered and neutered. When taken out in public Lennox is always muzzled and kept on a short lead...Lennox is securely kept at his family home behind a 6 foot wrought iron security gate with surrounding 8 foot concrete walls. Lennox had never bitten or attacked anyone. He was killed because of the length of his rear legs and muzzle. Lennox's family said that he was an American bulldog-Labrador cross, but whether he actually was a pit bull doesn't matter. Killing an innocent animal because of his breed or his appearance is wrong. The term "pit bull" actually includes three different breeds - the American pit bull terrier, the American Staffordshire terrier and the Staffordshire bull terrier. Over the past two years, support for Lennox poured in from all over the world. Victoria Stilwell, host of the TV show, "It's Me or the Dog," had the Barnes family's consent to bring Lennox to the United States to a new home. Peter Robinson, First Minister of Northern Ireland, urged the Lord Mayor of Belfast to consider allowing Lennox to be rehomed, to no avail. Hollywood actors Sophia Bush and Ian Somerhalder also urged the Belfast City Council to spare the dog. The BCC has acted reprehensibly throughout the two years right up to the bitter end, refusing to allow the Barnes family to see Lennox and now refusing to give Lennox's body or collar back to the family. In an outrageous statement to the press, the BCC's spokesperson explained, "It would be reckless and irresponsible in this particular case for the council to simply move the dog to some other place where it would pose the same danger to others." The same danger to others - practically none at all? The UK's Dangerous Dog Act, under which Lennox was seized and killed, is just one example of breed specific legislation. Sadly, while Lennox's death sparked an unprecedented worldwide outcry against BSL, it is not an isolated injustice. Countless dogs have been killed or abandoned because of BSL. He lived in anxiety and in fear, in sordid conditions. The child, whose companion he was, will be scarred for life. This is an unconscionable sin against an innocent dog and his family. Lennox was a beloved family dog who was NOT dangerous at all and had never done anything wrong in his life. people say - I believe Lennox was killed a while ago and THAT is why these
POS bastards could not do anything but stick to their guns - all based on
lies - and that is why the family was not allowed to say goodbye , and that
is why his body is not being turned over to the family - NO EVIDENCE as to
HOW or WHEN he was killed. If they just "humanely" killed him there should
be NO reason NOT to allow the family to say goodbye or at the very least
turn over ALL remains. These bottom dwellers MUST be made to answer not just
for the evil decision to kill him but for ALL the rest. And the comment by
them that he was "humanely" put down is, again, BS - was it humane to keep
