The consequences are obvious: unnatural behaviors, confinement in small spaces (7-8 hens per square meter) and diseases not so different from the ones found, for example, in the 'battery' farms.

Choosing a 'cage-free' farm, instead of a 'battery', 'free range' or 'organic' one, makes no difference: the question is not about how we exploit animals but about the concrete fact that we exploit them. There's no respect for individuality or dignity, hens are treated like 'machines' necessary to produce eggs until they no longer can, after that they are slaughtered. Speciesism is the basis of this production system and we rescued 12 hens to give back to them what humans have stolen since their birth: freedom.

For every individual still imprisoned we can make a difference by stopping to eat dead bodies.
For every individual we can make a change immediately, by becoming vegan."

Abbiamo scelto di riscattare questi individui da un allevamento 'a terra', un luogo di segregazione e prigionia dove le galline sono stipate in spazi ristretti, in 7-8 per ogni mq, in capanni oscurati di giorno e con luce sempre accesa di notte. I comportamenti che adottano sono chiaramente non naturali per individui abituati a vivere razzolando sul terreno in spazi non delimitati, mentre le malattie non sono di fatto meno gravi di quelle delle altre tipologie di allevamento avicolo.

Noi siamo entrati ed abbiamo prelevato 12 galline da un capanno adibito alla riproduzione; all'interno esse vengono costrette a vivere insieme ai galli in spazi ancora pi� angusti. Si tratta di una procedura considerata un 'vanto naturale' da parte di alcuni allevatori. Infatti, piuttosto che riprodurre in maniera artificiale, viene usato questo metodo, lasciando sempre le luci accese nei capanni e forzando gli animali a 'produrre' il pi� possibile. E' soprattutto per questo motivo che abbiamo trovato galline in angoli bui, raggruppate una sull'altra, alla continua ricerca del difficile riposo da trovare in una situazione del genere.

Scegliere un allevamento 'a terra' piuttosto che uno 'in gabbia', 'all'aperto' o 'biologico', non fa distinzione: non � sul modo in cui si sfrutta un individuo che vogliamo porre l'attenzione, ma sullo sfruttamento in s�.
Che vengano stipate in gabbie o a terra nei capanni, non fa per noi alcuna differenza; in tutti i casi quest'animale non umano viene privato della sua individualit�, della dignit�, umiliato, trattato come una macchina che serve a produrre uova e infine mandato al macello, quando non pi� capace di svolgere efficientemente il compito per il quale � stato fatto nascere. Lo specismo � alla base di questo sistema produttivo, � per questo che abbiamo riscattato 12 individui, per restituire loro ci� che l'animale umano gli ha sottratto nel momento in cui ne ha progettato la nascita: la libert�.

"On the night of January 24, 2011 our cell visited the largest chinchilla farm (and one of the only) in Italy: the Pegoraro chinchilla farm in Campo San Martino (PD).

Inside a shed in the backyard of the Pegoraro home, hundreds of chinchillas are raised in wire mesh cages to be killed, skinned and turned into fur. This farm is also involved in the tanning and direct sale of the skins.

From our initial visits we realized that to get into the shed we would have to enter through a window about 4 feet high, and pass through bars and Plexiglas that separated us from the animals.

Because the gap between the bars was large enough for us to get our bodies and a ladder through, on the night of the action the difficult task remained of finding a way to cut the Plexiglas window with the least possible noise, since the farm was in a residential area about twenty meters from the home of the owner and the homes of other neighbors.

For about half an hour, crouched on a sheet metal roof under the window, we cut the Plexiglas, heating a blade with the aid of a gas torch to melt the plastic and make the cut less noisy.

With the cut completed, with bated breath, we gave one last tug on the piece of Plexiglas, which came off with a loud crunch: looking down from the window inside the building, we saw four long corridors of cages, each consisting of three rows of cages stacked on top of each other.

After waiting a minute to be sure we did not wake anyone, we moved a ladder into the small hole that we had cut and two of us dropped into the shed.
Inside, the farm was very bad, very dirty and the smell of urine and feces of the animals was suffocating. Many of the chinchillas had a collar that kept them in this stressful situation from tearing or biting their precious fur. Once the collars were removed, many of them had neck injuries.

Because of the delay during the cutting of the window, we had to act as quickly as possible. Open the cage, fill the bags with animals, climb the ladder, and pass a bag through the window to those who were waiting on the roof. And then do it all over again, without stopping for a second. We chose only female animals... to stop the breeding and to ruin the genealogical lines that Pegoraro had created over many years.
In about half an hour we saved 53 chinchillas, loaded them into our vehicle and took them to a new life where they will no longer be forced to breed and will not be skinned for a pointless and bloody fashion. Before we left we signed ALF on the outer wall of the farm.

We dedicate this release to all those who have decided to act in person, without delegating and waiting for a time that will never come. What we're fighting for is a radical disruption of this system, the dismantling of anthropocentrism and the collapse of civilization. Lifestyle choices, protests and actions may be ways to arrive at the free world that we have in our hearts, in contrast with the world in which we find ourselves, in heartbreaking screams of pain, cages, exploitation and oppression. We do not accept the speciesist idea that animals are objects for our consumption (fur, food, entertainment, research) and we are prepared to risk our freedom to destroy exploitation and imprisonment and to rescue those who we consider individuals.

"Nella notte del 24 gennaio 2011 la nostra cellula ha fatto visita al pi� grande allevamento di cincill� (ed uno dei pochi presenti) in Italia: l'allevamento Pegoraro Cincill� di Pegoraro Franco a Campo San Martino (PD).

All'interno di un capannone nel giardino di casa della famiglia Pegoraro, centinaia di cincill� sono allevati in gabbie di rete metallica per essere uccisi, scuoiati e trasformati in pellicce. Questo allevamento si occupa inoltre della concia delle pelli e della vendita diretta.

Dai primi sopralluoghi avevamo capito che per introdurci nel capannone sarebbe stato necessario entrare da una finestra a circa 4 metri di altezza, creandoci un varco tra le sbarre ed il plexiglas che ci separavano dagli animali.

Essendo la distanza tra le sbarre abbastanza grande da farci passare i nostri corpi ed una scala, la notte dell'azione restava l'arduo compito di trovare un modo per tagliare la finestra di plexiglas facendo il minor rumore possibile, essendo l'allevamento posizionato in una zona residenziale ad una ventina di metri dalla casa del proprietario e dalle abitazioni di altri vicini.

Per circa un'ora e mezza, accovacciati su una tettoia di lamiera sotto la finestra, abbiamo tagliato una porzione di plexiglas, scaldando una lama con l'aiuto di un cannello a gas per fondere la plastica e rendere il taglio meno rumoroso.

A taglio completato, trattenendo il respiro, abbiamo dato l'ultimo strattone al pezzo di plexiglas, che con un forte scricchiolio si � staccato: guardando gi� dalla finestra all'interno dell'edificio, 4 lunghi corridoi di gabbie, ognuno costituito da tre file di gabbie impilate una sull'altra.

Dopo aver aspettato un minuto per essere sicuri di non aver svegliato nessuno, abbiamo infilato una scala nel piccolo varco che ci eravamo ritagliati e due di noi sono scesi nel capannone.
All'interno l'allevamento era tenuto malissimo, molto sporco e l'odore delle deiezioni degli animali soffocante. Molti dei cincill� avevano un collare che impediva loro in tale situazione di stress di strapparsi a morsi il prezioso pelo. Una volta tolti questi collari a molti di loro rimanevano ferite sul collo.

A causa del ritardo accumulato durante il taglio della finestra, abbiamo dovuto agire il pi� in fretta possibile. Aprire le gabbie, riempire le borse di animali, arrampicarsi sulla scala, passare una borsa dalla finestra a chi stava fuori sulla tettoia, e mettere in salvo gli animali. E poi di nuovo tutto da capo, senza fermarsi un secondo. Abbiamo inoltre scelto esclusivamente animali di sesso femminile, per facilitare la loro futura vita in comunit�, evitare riproduzioni e rovinare le linee genealogiche delle fattrici che Pegoraro ha creato in troppi anni di attivit�.
In circa mezz'ora abbiamo salvato 53 cincill�, caricati sul nostro mezzo e portati ad una nuova vita, dove non sono pi� costretti a riprodursi e non saranno scuoiati per una inutile e sanguinosa moda. Prima di andarcene abbiamo anche lasciato una scritta firmata ALF sul muro esterno dell'allevamento.

Dedichiamo questa liberazione a tutti coloro i quali hanno deciso di agire in prima persona, senza delegare e attendere un cambiamento dall'alto che non verr� mai. Quello per cui lottiamo � un radicale stravolgimento di questo sistema, lo smantellamento dell'antropocentrismo e il crollo della civilizzazione. Le scelte di vita, le azioni, le proteste, possono essere strade per arrivare al mondo liberato che abbiamo nel nostro cuore, contrastando il mondo nel quale ci troviamo a vivere tra strazianti urla di dolore, gabbie, sfruttamento ed oppressione. Non accettiamo l'idea specista per la quale gli animali sono oggetti per il nostro consumo (pellicce e vestiario, cibo, divertimento, ricerca) e siamo pronti a rischiare la nostra libert� per abbattere lo sfruttamento e la prigionia e portare in salvo quelli che consideriamo degli individui.

In questi luoghi le quaglie, stupendi volatili abituati a vivere liberi, sono allevate e costrette a vivere in piccoli capanni in attesa che venga il giorno in cui possano fungere da autentico 'tiro al piattello' per cacciatori inesperti, in vena di 'allenamento' o per il semplice fatto di continuare a praticare quello che non � uno sport, ma pura idiozia.

Entrare nella struttura � stato piuttosto facile, non � stato danneggiato nulla e la nostra attenzione si � concentrata esclusivamente su gli individui rinchiusi all'interno di un capanno fatiscente, senza possibilit� di esser sfiorati dalla luce del Sole e di volare liberi nel cielo. Sapevamo, da precedenti sopralluoghi, di portar via circa 50 quaglie, alcune pi� piccole ma gi� perfettamente in grado di spiccare il volo, altre pi� grandi.

Dopo esserci occupati di trovare loro una sistemazione per i giorni seguenti, in maniera tale da riprendersi da questo stato di prigionia per poi volare verso la libert�, solo a quel punto abbiamo agito. Abbiamo portato in salvo 50 individui il cui destino la notte del 23 dicembre 2010 � cambiato, passando dall'inevitabilit� di essere portate su un campo di pochi metri senza aver mai concretamente volato ed essere nel facile mirino di qualche cacciatore, alla possibilit� di volare liberi, verso un destino che l'essere umano non ha previsto per loro.

Le persone che hanno intrapreso quest' azione sono fermamente convinte che salvare animali sia fondamentale, ma anche che senza una pratica costante e quotidiana del rifiuto dello sfruttamento, soprattutto attraverso la nostra dieta, gesti del genere rischiano di non riuscire a risolvere l'intero problema. Once inside we saw an operating table and meat hooks on the wall... We then realized that in the corridor there were alarms: our actions had to be fast, so we could escape before the police arrived.
The main objective for us was to find the animals, but we did not know where they were.
For a few intense minutes, while the alarm sirens split the night (the alarm had also triggered car alarms) we raced across the two floors of the building until we found the cages. There were only 3 hens, kept in tiny metal cages, who we brought away with us.
Now the chickens are free, and for the first time they will touch the grass.
Two chickens have disproportionately long nails, a sign that they have never walked (see photo).
Before we left we also used a hammer to destroy computers and several expensive machines that we found on our way, then we disappeared into the night with the liberated animals.
On the wall of the building we wrote in large letters: DIRECT ACTION ON NEW YEAR'S DAY ... ACTION ALL YEAR!

Nella notte del 31 dicembre ci siamo diretti all'Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale, un centro di Parma dove si effettuano esperimenti su animali (vivi e morti) per la zootecnia.
Uno dei tanti luoghi di tortura spacciati per ricerca, dove esseri senzienti vengono vivisezionati, su cui vengono testati nuovi farmaci, animali a cui vengono inoculate le pi� varie malattie per poi tentare di curarle: queste sperimentazioni per noi sono solo torture, oltretutto finalizzate ad aumentare il profitto di un'altra categoria di sfruttatori di animali, gli allevatori.
L'Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale � situato in citt�, in una zona industriale. Quello che di certo non ci aspettavamo era di trovare una festa techno di fine anno proprio dall'altro lato della strada... Questo non ci ha distolto dalle nostre intenzioni, abbiamo deciso che avremmo tentato l'azione in ogni caso.
Per entrare nell'edificio abbiamo segato due sbarre di una finestra sul retro, poi abbiamo rotto il vetro con un martello e ci siamo introdotti dalla finestra. Una volta entrati abbiamo visto il tavolo operatorio e i ganci da macellaio appesi al muro... Ci siamo poi resi conto che nel corridoio c'erano degli allarmi: la nostra azione doveva essere rapidissima, in modo da fuggire prima dell'arrivo della polizia.
L'obiettivo principale era per noi trovare gli animali, ma non sapevamo dove fossero.
Il tutto � durato pochi intensi minuti: mentre le sirene degli allarmi squarciavano la notte (ma pochi vi facevano caso, perch� i botti avevano fatto scattare altri allarmi di auto) noi attraversavamo di corsa i due piani dell'edificio fino a trovare lo stabulario. Erano presenti soltanto 3 galline, rinchiuse in minuscole gabbie di metallo, che abbiamo portato via con noi.
Ora le galline sono libere, e per la prima volta potranno toccare l'erba.
Due galline hanno unghie spropositatamente lunghe, segno che non hanno mai camminato (vedi foto).
Andandocene abbiamo anche distrutto a martellate i computer, gli schermi e vari costosi macchinari che abbiamo trovato sul nostro cammino, per poi dileguarci nella notte con gli animali liberati.
Sul muro dell'edificio abbiamo lasciato a grandi lettere la scritta: AZIONE DIRETTA A CAPODANNO... AZIONE TUTTO L'ANNO!

"In a warm august night five gorgeous beagle dogs have been saved from
vivisection, took in an embrace and brought to a new life.

These dogs were born in Green Hill breeding farm of Montichiari (BS) and
after passing years in the labs of Recordati pharmaceuticals of Milano,
are now finally far from the imprisonment and tortures of vivisectors.

To free them from the cold world of research it was not necessary to get
into the alarmed kennels of the labs, but we just had to make them
disappear from "Casina Croce" dog pension in Cornaredo (Milano), where we
knew we could find them during the summer closure of the lab. A wall to
jump, some cages to open, and in a few minutes five new friends have been
saved.
Now they are no more victims of experiments, they are not numbers anymore,
but individuals with a personality, able to give and receive love and live
far away from torturers. The only memory of that terrible past is the
tattoo in the hear, with the letters GH easy to read.

Now that they are safe in their new houses we can spread the video and
pictures, but also news on this action that has been kept secret both by
the media and Recordati themselves.

Animals like these ones are created to serve the purposes of
pharmaceutical corporations and of a socalled "research" that sees in
every living being (human or not-human that be) a way to make money.
Millions of animals are used annually to test chemicals, cosmetics,
pesticides, erbicides, drugs, weapons and so on. They are subjected to
surgical operations, fractures, forced to inhale or swallow substances and
suffer violations of their bodies and their minds, 'till death and then
autopsy and then burning chambers.

With the excuse of social and scientific progress, abusers in suit and tie
or in white coats, are allowed all these atrocities. A growing number of
people is opposing vivisection and animal abuse. Our voices and protests
are unfortunately too often not heard.
In a world where vivisection is legal and financed by governments, direct
action is a necessary answer to immediately save lives and give voice to
the pain that millions animals are enduring.

diffondere fotografie e video e rendere nota questa notizia, tenuta a
tacere dai media e dalla Recordati stessa.

Animali come questi sono creati apposta per servire gli interessi delle
multinazionali del farmaco e di una cosiddetta �ricerca� che vede in ogni
essere vivente (umano o animale che sia) una fonte di profitto economico.
Milioni di animali vengono utilizzati annualmente per sperimentare
prodotti chimici, cosmetici, pesticidi,erbicidi, farmaci,armi,etc.
Sono sottoposti ad operazioni, fratture, costretti ad ingerire o respirare
sostanze, costretti a subire ogni sorta di violazione dei loro corpi e
delle loro menti fino alla morte quindi all�autopsia ed infine al forno
crematorio.
Sfruttatori in doppio petto o in camice bianco, con la scusa del progresso
scientifico e sociale, si permettono tutte queste atrocit�.
Un numero crescente di persone si oppone alla vivisezione e allo
sfruttamento degli animali.
Le nostre voci e le nostre proteste passano per� troppo spesso inascoltate!
