Italian Repression
November 29, 2009
ELP has just learnt that the well known Italian animal rights activist,
Sergio Stafani, along with Alessandro Settepani, have been imprisoned accused of
"subversive conspiracy". As longer term ELP supporters will be aware, Sergio is constantly being accused of crimes he has not committed and ELP regards this
as yet another attempt by the authorities to silence this well known activist.
ELP has also heard that the latest Il Silvestre trial resulted in
Daniele Casalini and Francesco Gioia being found guilty of robbery, but not
guilty of "subversive association" . Both were sentenced to four years
imprisonment but for legal reasons both were immediately released. However
another Il Silvestre activist, Leonardo Landi, has been remanded into custody
accused of the same robbery that Daniele and Francesco were found guilty of.
Please send urgent letters of support to:

of theft of car and of involving in a attempting sabotage of public

special section for the anarchic prisoners.

On October the 29th , Daniele Casalini and Francesco Gioia, two Italian
anarchist, who were arrested on June 12 2007, during an Operation called Ardesia,
on suspicious of robbery and "subversive conspiracy" were sentenced for robbery
respectively to 4 years imprisonment and to 4 years and 2 months. The charge of
"subversive conspiracy" has been dropped.
For technical motive they were
immediately released and they are now free. For Francesco came into effect the
special surveillance, that consists in the obligation of stay in the city where
one lives, in the nocturnal obligation of staying in the house , in the
prohibition to attend meetings and political demos and the prohibition of
attending affected.
Francesco and Daniele thank a lot for the solidarity
they have received in these years of imprisonment.
In the same day
(October the 29th) the preliminary hearing for other 9 anarchist co-defendants
of Daniele e Francesco was held. All comrades were acquitted with the exclusion
of Leonardo Landi, against whom in May 2008 a arrest warrant was been issued
(the same day Paola Gori was arrested) but who was fugitive until that time.
Unfortunately on November the 5th, Leonardo was captured and now he is been held
in the prison of Sanremo and his trial for robbery will start on March the 5th
2010. We encourage everyone to send letters of support and solidarity:
