Italy/Monza: New shelter for small rescued lab animals
15/11/2010
Hundreds of rescued rabbits, rats and guinea pigs are given shelter in the "La
collina dei conigli" (The rabbits' hill) in Monza. They are cared for by
volunteers and veterinarians and, when they are healthy enough and have
recovered from psychological problems, become available for adoption.
In Italy the new European Directive on vivisection voted in September is
strongly criticized. Among other problems, it permits to experiment on stray
dogs and cats and to systematically re-use animals even when they already
suffered prolonged pain and distress before.
