Actions against the fur industry become more frequent in Russia

Several actions have taken place in Russia against the use of fur. During October an International Fur Festival took place in Moscow. Several actions took place organised by the Russian Animal Liberation Front (RALF).

On October 20th, in the city of Nizhny Novgorod: a building where a "Furs of Russia" exhibition was taking place was covered with stickers. Advertising boards were also spoiled by red paint. Whilst the day before in Moscow activists broke the windows of a building in the Tagansky district of the city, due to its links with the fur industry.

Also in Moscow in October, slogans were painted on the walls of the Scientific Institute of the Fur Industry and also the office's of "Furs of the World" magazine. One window was broken by stones and one more window spoiled by paint. Magazine "Furs of the World" were reported as being one of sponsors of the Fur festival.


Earlier on in October on the 9th, and once again in Moscow, activists broke two windows and painted slogans on the building of the Bank of Moscow in Izmaylovo district of the city. The reason behind this was reported as being, because the Bank of Moscow is one of the sponsors of the Fur festival.


At the beginning of October on the 1st the office's of the information agency 'RIA Novosti' were targetted and cars parked in their parking bays were damaged, the reason behind the attack was stated as being because the agency acted as the advertisers for the Fur festival.
