December 30, 2012 - 22 FOIE GRAS DUCKS RESCUED

received anonymously (translation):

"On December 27, 2012 a group of animal liberation activists rescued 22 ducks who were destined to be used to produce foie gras in Catalonia.

They were all unable to move in the cages in which they were forced to eat corn to the poin of producing painful liver disease. In just a few days they were going to be sent to slaughter.

The goal of this action, in addition to giving these animals freedom, was for people to reflect on the use of animals for human benefit. Not only to produce foie gras, but any other animal product.

Using animals for our clothing, entertainment or food is not ethical or necessary."

December 29, 2012 - NEGLECTED DOG RESCUED FROM HUNTING ESTATE

anonymous report (translation):

"On the night of December 28, 2012 two animal liberation activists went to an estate in a town in Barcelona where hunters keep their hunting dogs. They were in absolutely intolerable unhygienic conditions. Among them we noticed a mother with her cub shivering in the cold. We thought it would be easy to find him a home. We jumped the fence and rescued him. Soon we saw that he was completely full of fleas. We brought him to a veterinarian and they found more than five types of internal parasites, but we know that he'll get well and we will find him a family who loves him.

We dedicate this action to all animal liberation activists who are spending Christmas in prison, away from their loved ones. We want you to know that you are not forgotten.

Animal Liberation Front"

November 18, 2012 - FOR BARRY: RABBITS RESCUED

received anonymously (translation):

"November 5 is a special day for the animal liberation movement because it is the anniversary of the death of Barry Horne. This day we remember his life as an activist and his death after a hunger strike.

On the night of November 5 (2012) we went to a rabbit farm located in Murcia. It had hundreds of caged animals waiting their turn to go to slaughter. We managed to rescue two of them.

Barry Horne is still in our minds and our hearts.

The best tribute: to continue the fight."

October 8, 2012 - SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE FOR HUNDREDS OF FISH

translation of a report on LeonVegano.net (click here for more photos):

"By chance, or perhaps because they had already taken their last breaths for oxygen and we were the only ones who would do something to save them, activists from Leon Vegano saw a Dantesque image: thousands of fish flapping in the mud, trying to find a place to submerge themselves to breath again, a place to put an end to their totally real, terrible nightmare: a nightmare where their space got smaller and smaller, left in the open air unable to breathe, a nightmare in which humans came to kidnap them and later murder them, where birds and wasps went looking for food and ate them alive; unable to flee, resignation was the only thing left for them as they died trapped in the mud.

Very nervously (there were no other way), we found the river which was safest in which to free them and at the same time we were preparing ourselves to come to the rescue with the few resources we had. Even knowing it was illegal to take them out of there since it was a protected area, within minutes we were on our way, the night falling, trying to move forward with the mud up to our knees. Sometimes we stepped on their buried bodies and desolation came over us. Meanwhile other humans came to kidnap them for the pleasure of their palates.

That night we managed to rescue 86 lives who could feel freedom once again, to breathe, to swim and to eat without fear, we saw them swimming in the darkness of the night and that became a magical moment which we will never forget.

The next morning we went back with the only person who answered our call, and over the course of the day we managed to rescue and liberate over 2000 fish before the humans returned to kidnap them, before they died by beaks and asphixiation before the indifference of many. The mud came out through their mouths and gills. Many died before we got there, others did not survive after being rescued.

They were released in different parts of a river to avoid being tracked down and kidnapped by humans. We will not say the name or location to ensure their safety.

There in the mud, the bodies of thousands of others were left who could have been saved if we had been aware of their situation. We feel a great joy and an enormous sadness.

They are seen as food, as a species to be preserved, they are seen as resources at the disposal of humans. However, in reality they are individuals who are capable of feeling, with their own interests, like any human, and thousands had to die before the indifferent gaze of greedy humans, far from feeling the slightest empathy, captured them to secure their death.

Indifference seems to know no limits; we wonder if maybe they were not fish, if they had been dogs, thousands of dogs dying. Would we have been only three people?

Dogs and fish are different, but equal in something: they have the ability of feel and have their own interests. Those who didn't come to help because they were only 'seafood' should think about this.

We will not ask for compassion or charity so that this never happens again, what we do ask is RESPECT. Out of respect, go vegan!

We want to thank wholeheartedly Codi and Nacho (Asturias) who helped us to publish the notice on Facebook as we had had our internet connection cut, and to Patty for coming early. Thanks to her we saved so many individuals in so little time.

Your indifference condemns them. Remember that a simple gesture can save thousands of lives, you are their only hope and if you stand idly by, they will die."

have been made in the circus."

September 26, 2012 - MANUFACTURER OF SPEARS USED IN CRUEL FESTIVALS HIT WITH GRAFFITI AND PAINT BOMBS

According to media reports, early on September 11, "Instruments of animal torture are manufactured here," "murderers" and other slogans were painted on a factory in Olmedo that for decades has manufactured spears and lances for bullfighting and cruel festivals. Balloons filled with red paint were also thrown at the building. (photo: elnortedecastilla.es)

September 25, 2012 - HUNDREDS OF PATRIDGES RELEASED FROM GAME FARM

anonymous report, from Liberacion Total (translation):

"Vivisection, circuses, milk, fur, meat, bullfighting ... are all based in the same injustice. Discrimination against an individual because of their species.

We recognize that to end all of this it is essential to put an end to speciesism. But in this slow moving process it is important that we make an effort to get as many animals out of their cages as we possibly can.

During Friday night, between September 21 and 22, a small group of people headed to one of the places which embody speciesism, a partridge farm located in the province of Toledo. And just a few weeks before the start of the hunting season, we opened big holes in one of the flight cages at the farm. Then we entered the cage and drove the partridges toward the escape routes. More than 400 flew free. As we were leaving the area we could hear them in the nearby fields, flying and running around.

This type of activism is simple and effective; anyone who wants to can carry it out.
Animal Liberation Front."

September 2, 2012 - 12 RABBITS RESCUED

received anonymously (translation):

"Unfortunately, in the village's backyards nonhuman animals are confined in small cages and spend their short lives bred to eventually be killed to be part of a plate of food.

This is not an isolated event in a remote, godforsaken village, but rather this is the outskirts of Valencia. And as we know, it is a common practice in most towns in Spain.

This is how it happened this time. An old man who bred chickens and rabbits was admitted to hospital and died two days later. On that day there were more than 50 lives locked away in 4 by 2 meter enclosures.

His family knew that he would die, because doctors had advised them, so during the next 48 hours they ransacked his house and took nearly 20 chickens and another 20 rabbits.

They had been threatening to do so, because they wanted 'free meat' and didn't want to waste their money on something if there was 'no reason or benefit' to do so.

So they didn't even think twice about it, they took away nearly 40 animals to be killed. They forgot that these nonhuman animals were not born so they would be able to eat meat free, but instead had their own interests, their own fears and desires, their own personalities, their own hearts and their own lives. For those humans with dark hearts it meant a few hours of effort, including taking them away, killing them and eating them, but for those non-humans, it would be the end of their life. A sad life, locked away in some dirty enclosure without the sun to caress them, in the interior courtyard of a house in the village. They never knew the grass or felt the rain soaking their bodies.

When a relative of the old man realized that the rest of the family had torn the place apart without waiting until after the time of mourning, she took 5 chickens to safety, and called us to rescue the 12 remaining rabbits. We went later on, when we knew the family wasn't going to be there, and we took them. One of the rabbits, a young one who was no more than four months old, had been beheaded and skinned in the freezer ... He or she didn't have fortune on his side.

Now they are at home, away from all that has happened, some are nervous and others are calmer. They have seen their brothers and sisters, parents or children die.

They arrived full of fleas and ticks, some with wounds on their skin, another with half an ear missing ... But the important thing is that they have escaped that inferno, they have left the nightmares behind them. Now they need to experience the warmth of a home to make up for what they have been through ... Because it's only fair to give a little bit of heaven to someone who has lived through hell.
Small furry survivors with enormous ears, a long and happy life awaits you, and we promise you that you will walk on grass, you will tumble under the sun, you will feel the rain wash your bodies, and you will live to old age, and no human hand will take your life from you.

Animal and Earth Liberation."

August 22, 2012 - TWO LAMBS RESCUED

anonymous report (translation):

"Two lambs were rescued on August 21 from a farm in Crdoba. For us it was a very simple action, but for them it will mean a complete change in their lives. They have been seen by a veterinarian and have a piece of land where they can enjoy themselves without being at risk of ending up in a slaughterhouse.

We encourage everyone to try to empathize with the animals and adopt a vegan lifestyle."

August 12, 2012 - FOUR CHICKENS RESCUED

Activists with Leon Vegano have rescued 4 chickens who were destined to be killed. The chickens have been seen by a veterinarian and are now enjoying their new lives. Click here for more photos from the rescue.

Announcement (please check back for a translation):

http://www.leonvegano.net/donaciones/

Para ingresos/transferencias: 0073 0100 52 0474293361 (OpenBank) Banco Santander.

Concepto: 4 vidas.

Bullring in Mallorca (Majorca), Spain.

July 25, 2012 - NETS CUT, HUNDREDS OF BLUEFIN TUNA SWIM FREE

received anonymously:

"Hundreds of bluefin tuna freed from tuna farm in Spain. If current exploitation trends of Atlantic bluefin tuna continue scientists warn of the extinction of the species in three to five years. Organizations like the International Coalition for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna (ICCAT) and the Convention on the International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) have not given the Altantic bluefin tuna the protection required. Japan and its puppet states have blocked the listing of the species as an endangered species under CITES. ICCAT sets quotas two times as big as those recommended by their scientists and the number of fish caught is even two times that because of unregulated and illegal fishing. For these reasons on the morning of the 23rd July we cut the nets of three tuna fattening pens off Portman near Cartagena Spain giving hundreds of the few remaining wild Atlantic blue fin tuna their only chance of escape and survival.

July 9, 2012 - SLOGANS PAINTED AGAINST ANIMAL EXPLOITATION - DELAYED REPORT

received anonymously (translation); click here for more photos:

"Early one spring morning several activists committed to animal liberation took to the streets to directly attack the bullfighting, meat and fur industries in Leon.

We painted businesses that sell cruelty and suffering in various parts of the city, because businesses of death must be boycotted. We can not let those who have a direct role in the animal holocaust live peacefully.

The facade of the largest and oldest fur shop in Leon was painted, as well as two meat markets and several bullfighting businesses and we also did a cleanup of bullfighting propaganda in the city.

These activists will not stop fighting, and will seek other ways to continue to give voice to the voiceless.

That no exploiter sleeps peacefully, because we will not stop until the last cage is empty, we will not stop until Animal Liberation.

...this is just the beginning.

If not you, who?
If not now, when?

They are close, what are you waiting for to attack!?"

Si no eres t, quin?

"Some small damages were made against animal abusers during the day of March 14 in Asturias countryside and a village. First we glued the locks of a bullring. March 2, 2012 - 11 RABBITS FREED FROM FARM (DELAYED REPORT)

received anonymously (translation):

"In the first eight months of 2010, 526 million animals were murdered in slaughterhouses in Spain, of which 36 million were rabbits. Born in cages, the animals would only leave their prison when, 70 days later, they are sent to slaughter. All animals have their own interests and want to be the masters of their own lives, but as long as society does not change and continues to see them as property, billions of animals will continue living as slaves and dying as victims of human selfishness. For these reasons, in September we liberated 11 rabbits from a farm designated for meat production.
Carrying out a vegan lifestyle (100% vegetarian) is entirely possible for each of us, therefore it is entirely unnecessary to use animal products.
Veganism is not a personal choice since our habits of consumption directly impact the life and death of individuals who were bred for our interests. An individual change is necessary to achieve a collective change and as long as this does not happen, we will not stop working for our equals, we will not stop the liberations, we will not stop doing what is in our reach; we will open all the cages we find along the way.
We are your neighborhood baker, the mechanic in the shop on the corner, the history professor at your university.

There are many of us, more and more all the time and we are everywhere."

February 25, 2012 - EGG TRUCK TORCHED

translation of anonymous report, from Liberacion Total:

"Millions of animals are murdered each year for human consumption. Hens are confined in 10cm by 16cm spaces for their entire lives. And what do we do?
We carry signs and put on a sad face so that people will feel compassion for the animals, when in fact it is they who pity us.
We try lecturing people that animals are our brothers and sisters, who suffer, who feel pleasure or fear. But we believe that in order to get closer to Animal Liberation, we need to mess with this exploitative industry, since money is what rules this society and not feelings.
That is why we decided to burn an egg delivery truck, on which the symbol of a 'smiling' chicken tries to make us believe how happy they are in their fucking animal prisons. To economically attack a company that benefits off the millions of chickens who are locked up and suffering, who can not live their lives according to their own needs.
But it does not stop there. The fire that cold night illuminated and gave warmth to a feeling of revolt where the fight is not limited to Animal Liberation, but marks a path to the flames that already exist in Greece, Chile, right here in 'Carcelona' and everywhere that the insurrectionary struggle strikes the state, vomiting words and gestures of love and rage.
Rage against all that makes us slaves, rage that makes us see how the Earth suffers under our feet and how all the animals living on it are subjugated by the greed of humankind. And Love of rebellion, of what is real, of our brothers and sisters and friends locked up in cages around the world, whatever species they may be.
Therefore, this action is dedicated to the prisoners in the Spanish state who, along with the JAIL = TORTURE campaign, are involved in hunger strikes to denounce the miserable conditions in which prisoners in Spain are kept, and which are bringing down the prison system itself.
This incendiary gesture makes us feel dignified, as we reaffirm ourselves as individals, because to attack is the only thing we can do when we have nothing to defend ourselves with ...

'Certain human cultures have been waging war against the Earth for millennia. I chose to fight on the side of bears, mountain lions, skunks, bats, saguaros, cliff rose and all things wild. I am just the most recent casualty in that war. But tonight I have made a jail breakI am returning home, to the Earth, to the place of my origins.'

January 8, 2012 - SLOGANS PAINTED ON BULLRING

Pontevedra

Pontevedra

Late on January 3, "Murderers," "Cowards" and other slogans were painted on the facade of the bullring in Pontevedra. The action was dedicated to Chilean activist Luciano Pitronello.

NO PARAREMOS!

Algunxs anti-especistas enfurecidxs."
