A group of 50 animal rights activists forced a gate at the entrance to
the Swedish Institute for Infectious Disease Control(SMI) in Stockholm
on Monday morning. Institute staff were able to prevent the activists
from entering the main buildings.
The activists damaged a gate and then tried to force their way into
the main building of the institute at Karolinska University Hospital
in Solna at around 8.30am on Monday.
"Staff managed to lock the main entrance so that the activists were
unable to enter the building," said police spokesman Björn Engström to
newspaper Dagens Nyheter.
