Protest against British use of bearskin

SWITZERLAND: October 19, 2006

Members of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) shout slogans against the use of bearskin for the traditional Busby military head-dress of the British Queen's Guard during a protest outside of the British embassy in Bern October 17, 2006.

The banner on the right reads: "How many Brunos have to die for those traditional helmets of the British Queen's Guard".

'Bruno' was a brown bear shot in Germany last June after wandering from his home in the Italian alps, to the horror of animal lovers, who said the rare animal should have been protected.
