Our team was driving past a field in Wiltshire, when we spotted a rather suspicious building, which we guessed from the ventilation and the smell, housed animals.
A quick look informed us that the farmer was close at hand, so we jumped out of the car, opened the doors of the building, and grabbed 5 of the occupants - baby pheasants.
These birds were being bred for the wholesale slaughter that is game shooting.
The birds were too young to be released into the wild, so they have been given temporary homes where they can learn their natural behaviors until they are ready for a life of total freedom.
These lucky birds will be released into a safe area of countryside - miles from any gun-toting thugs, and you can be rest assured we will be back for more.
