Thu 20th November 2008

An anti-fur campaigner who's served a four year prison sentence for conspiracy to commit criminal damage is among the guest speakers at a debate on animal testing in NUI Galway this evening.

Dr Roger Yates was convicted in 1987 of conspiracy to commit criminal damage on behalf of the Animal Liberation Front, a movement which carries out direct action against animal abuse by rescuing animals and causing financial loss to animal exploiters, usually through the damage and destruction of property.

NUIG's Literary and Debating Society animal testing debate will take place in the Kirwan Theatre at 7pm this evening. (Thurs 20/11)
