anonymous communiqué:
"In celebration of
World Week for Animals in Laboratories the Animal Liberation Front is
claiming responsibility for the liberation of 21 mice from Louisiana State
University in the early hours of April 22nd, 2005.
Breaking through a
vent in a side door, animals on the seventh floor of the LSU Biology
Department building-- 21 mice -- were removed, examined and treated by a
sympathetic veterinarian, and placed in loving homes.
No animals were
released into the wild. All 21 were placed in comfortable, loving homes.
LSU's Animal Cruelty
Facility lab was also vandalized in addition to giving 21 mice new lives
free from torture, solitude and suffering. Aquariums were smashed, windows
broken and paint stripper poured on outer walls. Spraypaint was used for
slogans and further vandalism of the labs, and the locks were glued on doors
to any rooms that housed no animals.
Our deepest sadness is
reserved for the animals on the 7th Floor kept from our arms, those we were
unable to save, including hundreds of mice, dozens of rats, birds, rabbits,
and turtles. The cold solitude of the cage and the deafening silence of
sterile, windowless laboratory rooms on the top floor of a building, with no
chance to interact in the outside world or with one another is torture
enough. Add to that the despicable cruelty of those human beings who've
shown no compassion for the screams from animals in their never-ending,
painful experiments and you can see where our sadness, and our anger, comes
from.
We acted as operatives
not only of compassion, but good science. Animal research is not only cruel
but hazardous -- as data derived from the animal models is not applicable to
humans and therefore dangerous.
Our aim in inflicting
as much economic damage as possible is to drive up the cost of animal
experimentation until this sadistic psuedo-science is no longer economically
feasible.
Our aim in liberating
animals should be obvious. Giving them a new life free of the hell that is
the LSU ACF. For 21 mice, we've done that.
To vivisectors
everywhere, you know your profession is one of cruelty and unnecessary
suffering.
Stop now or be
stopped.
Always for the
animals,
A.L.F."
