On this Valentine's Day, please show your love for our shelter animals in need by pulling all shelter Snoopy's out of the dog house. Rescue groups, please scour your organizations for that one space you didn't think you could possibly create. Below you will find a list of participating shelters in need. This list is only a start. ALL shelters and their animals are welcome on our transport as long as they're accessible to our routes. If you don't see your shelter on the list and would like to become a member of the UHRR network, contact us for more information.
NORTHEAST RESCUE GROUPS: We will be setting up a separate transport to the Northeast shortly. Please let us know if you can offer any animals in need a spot in your organization.
Rescue groups, the pull fees range from none to nominal. In many cases, shelters in these rural areas can offer the option of full vetting at greatly reduced rates. Please inquire directly with your shelter of interest or ask and we will get the information for you. We have two routes with embarkation points in Harrisville WV, Heath OH, South Bend IN, Indianapolis IN and Chicago IL. See routing below. Our last mission, "Jingle Balls", was very successful - you all saved 95 animals. Documentary filmmakers will be on board this trip shooting footage for an upcoming documentary. Let's make "Snoopy Express" just as successful!
Donations Needed
We can't run without covering our expenses. Because missions of this size require the rental of cargo vans and walk-through box trucks we desperately need donations to cover the cost estimated at approximately $700 - $800 (including 4 cargo vans and gas). The rescue community was very generous during our last two missions and we were able to cover our expenses! If you make a donation, please email us with your pledge at dena@denaallen.com and lori1990@qwest.net so that we can budget. Please mark donations "UnderHound Railroad" and send to:
Animal Sanctuary Foundation
mark "c/o UnderHound
Railroad" website: http://www.GoBlackBeauty.com/
Our Routing
We will be running two simultaneous transports that will converge in Chicago and continue north through Wisconsin to Minneapolis.
Featured Pets In Need
There is nothing that makes our shelters more happy than when rescue groups say "Give me your most needy." Many shelters have presented their most urgent. You can look for specific animals in need by clicking http://www.goblackbeauty.com/rescue.html. We are constantly adding to this list, so check back frequently. All animals are very adoptable and of excellent temperament. If you wish to focus your selection on the most urgent, please write directly to me at dena@denaallen.com.
Don't Leave the Pits and Rotties Behind!
The UnderHound Railroad prides itself in rescuing the wonderful creatures that may be regarded by some as "hard to place" – the big, the black mixes, the elderly, the maimed. Please do your part in fighting breed prejudice. Pull a rottie or pit bull from a shelter. They need you! Partner with your new trustee in heightening awareness about these wonderful breeds. Please visit furry friends foundation's website at http://www.furryfriendsfoundation.com/ for a wealth of information on educating the public about breed prejudice.
