The second question is: what are you going to do about it? "

Subject: RE: HORRENDOUS...Rescue rep raced to save dog, South LA killed him anyway
This is heartbreaking. Again. Again they've killed a dog that they clearly knew could get out alive. I don't know how we're going to stop this horrible slaughtering of wonderful animals, but we're not giving up or going away. Boks and his murdering conspirators have to be stopped. It just doesn't make sense. It's no wonder that good vets don't want to work for LAAS - whatever happened to "doing no harm?" I'm so so sorry.
OMG, the management of this pound seems to not want any dogs getting out alive. Thank you so much for trying, and thank you to your rep for trying, Edgar was so worth it. Apparently they told you had to get him today, but they didn't even let him live through today so you could rescue him! Your rep made a heroic effort to get him today, they gave you a nearly impossible hurdle, yet you even complied with that, racing to get him way before the end of the day, and still they killed him. I am devastated over them killing him, as I know you must be too, even though you didn't know him, but believe me, I'm weeping, and a part of me died with him, he was really special.
The management is intent upon killing animals, regardless of whether people want them or not. On Friday they killed so many dogs, at least 3 of which were dogs that rescues were trying to save. Today they killed at least 16 dogs, so many of them very adoptable, even though the population of dogs in the pound is at an all time low. They give no notice whatever about whom they are killing, and it's nearly impossible to know ahead of time. But as you can see, even when there is a window where I can find out in time so the dog can be saved, the pound refuses to allow the poor animal to get out alive. I hope you don't mind, but I am cc'ing this to rescues and activists--I want the animal community in LA to be aware of what this pound is doing.
Here are 3 dogs that I know people tried to save on Friday, though there
may have been many more, and they were the most adoptable animals
imaginable--these poor dogs were all killed on Friday, January 5, 2007,
when they all had rescues waiting for them.
