Friday 13th August - World Day of Action against Sweden's
Fur FarmsFor many years Sweden has been seen as one of
the bastions of the global fur farming industry, but that image is
fast fading and may be about to change in a big way. Twenty years
ago there were about 500 fur farms in Sweden, today there only 75
mink farms left and no fox fur farms at all, thanks to the hard work
and dedication of anti-fur activists.
With a General
Election in Sweden only weeks away, one of the big topics of the
election campaign is a potential ban on all fur farms in Sweden,
something which we could only have dreamed of just a few years ago.
With similar campaigns in Finland, Norway and Denmark, it seems the
tide is turning against the fur trade throughout Scandinavia.
In support of the campaign for a ban of fur farms, Swedish
activists are calling for a World Day of Action against Swedish Fur
Farms on Friday 13th August. Anti-fur activists throughout the world
are asked to hold protests at their local Swedish Embassies and
Consulates in support of a ban on all fur farming in the country.
Please organise a demo at your Embassy or Consulate in support
of the campaign. For more details or to let us know you are
organising a protest, contact
