NEWTON -- A longtime opponent of New Jersey's bear hunt described herself
in court today as a "passionate" activist who has been persecuted for years
by police, state conservation officers and even some of her neighbors for
her animal rights activities.
Conceding she been charged with a long
list of criminal offenses and civil complaints in connection with her
activism, Susan Kehoe of Vernon said only one of them ever resulted in a

anywhere," said the Kehoe, who testified on her own behalf during a 2
1/2-hour trial before Superior Court Judge N. Peter Conforti in Newton.
