JASON BRICKMAN

On For The Animals Television Show Jason is the audio recordist. He also maintains the For The Animal Television Show website. Jason is our camera operator, sound recordist and editor on remote shoots and investigative specials. His personal projects and interests include film, video and painting. KAY BUSHNELL
Garden Gourmet


As  host of the Garden Gourmet segment of For The Animals Television Show, Kay Bushnell demonstrates how easy it is to cook delicious vegetarian food. She is the author of numerous feature articles on vegetarian subjects in newspapers and magazines, including the locally-produced magazine, Bay Area Vegetarian, of which she is Food and Recipe Editor. In addition to her show, Kay also loves to share delicious, healthful, animal-free recipes in her vegetarian cooking classes, which she gives in communities on the San Francisco Peninsula and at vegetarian/vegan conferences. Her cookbook, Meatless Burgers, Turnovers and Other Treats, emphasizes tasty, quick and easy food.

ELLEN DIMOND
Host (Episodes 1-25)

Ellen Dimond has been working on behalf of animals for 9 years. She is the co-founder of the Coalition for Humane Legislation, where her background in companion animal rescue and humane education lead to the authoring and passage of animal welfare laws, and to the creation of San Jose's free spay and neuter program. She lives in San Jose with her 2 dogs, Jake and Hayley, her house rabbit, Zoey, and an ongoing cast of rescued foster animals.
 

JIMMY ERSTED
Audio

In his spare time Jimmy enjoys writing literature, playing music, and multitrack recording. He runs his own record label and has been a supporter of the underground music scene for a number of years. He got involved with For The Animals to help promote the importance of a world fundamentally grounded by compassion for life. Jimmy can be e-mailed at: Flaw19380@aol.com.

 

RANDAL HUSK
Floor Director

By day Randal writes software, but at night he is our floor director. He has lived most of his life in the greater south San Francisco Bay Area. His other interests include foreign languages, which he studied in Europe for 2 years, and soccer. He lives with his wife and a multitude of family friends.

 

JUDY JONES
Producer, Field Production, Reporter

As an avid animal rights activist, Judy's main interest is to enlighten the public about the plight of all species on the planet. For The Animals Television Show has become a major interest for Judy. Her duties include obtaining guests for interviews. On the technical side, she can be called upon to operate the teleprompter and camera as well as act as floor director. She also functions as a reporter for programs produced on location.

 

STEVE KARLIN
Host

For the past 20 years Steve has been educating the public about the need to preserve and protect wildlife in our natural environment. He lectures nationally and internationally on topics ranging from environmental sustainability to bridging the chasm between the human and wild worlds. He is the founder and director of Wildlife Associates, a non-profit educational organization that saves non-releaseable wildlife. The animals have become ambassadors of the wild as they travel with Wildlife Specialists into schools, reaching over a half million students a year in northern California.

 

MERRICK KLAUS
Creator, Executive Producer, Director, Editor

As the Creator, Executive Producer, Director and Editor of For The Animals Television Show Merrick is kept quite busy. She currently works at KRON-TV and is also a free-lance Director. She has been a vegetarian and advocate for the animals for several years. In her precious spare time she likes to visit the gym and participate in outdoor activities. She graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Radio, Television and Film and hopes to further her career in television.

 

VAN LANGSTON
Lighting

Lighting is Van's specialty and his creativity and expertise in the use of light are greatly appreciated by the crew of For The Animals. An avid cat-lover, Van can be heard on the set talking about his experiences with his many feline friends.

  JOY MEININGER
Teleprompter

Joy is volunteer coordinator of South Bay In Defense of Animals, homemaker, mother of two sons and several companion animals. In early 1996, Joy decided she wanted to volunteer at For The Animals Television Show. She learned to use the teleprompter and now enjoys lending her "experience" to others on For The Animals Television Show. Her two sons are grown and living on their own. Joy lives with her husband, Milt, and those wonderful companion animals.

MILT MEININGER
Character Generator

Milt is an engineer who has worked in the semiconductor and disk drive industries since moving his wife and two sons to California over 20 years ago. Along with his wife Joy, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Performing Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) since it's inception. He has been a volunteer on the production of For The Animals Television Show since early 1996 operating the character generator.

LORNA PUSATERI
Camera

Lorna currently works in the Concert Production Department for Bill Graham Presents and utilizes her skills as a Camera Operator on For The Animals Television Show. She graduated from San Jose State with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Radio and Television. She has been a pure vegetarian (vegan) and involved in animal and environmental issues for the past twelve years. In her spare time she does volunteer work for the Nike Animal Rescue Foundation and Marine Mammal Center.

EDGAR WALKER
Engineer

Like many of our volunteers, Edgar also joined For The Animals Television Show with virtually no knowledge about video production. But to look at him today, one would guess he has been involved with it all his life. He is multi-talented and serves as the show's Engineer and Camera Operator.

CHRIS WILDER
Program Host Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Chris has long been an advocate for social and environmental change. He has worked with CALPIRG, Pesticide Watch and the Sierra Club. Today he is Assistant Executive Director of the Vanished Children's Alliance, one of the country's oldest and largest missing children's organizations.

Chris is a musician and songwriter who has performed in over two dozen nations. He enjoys politics, cooking for vegan-skeptic friends ("the best way to teach veganism"), and being married ("no kids, just lots of love and rescued animals").
