It explores the dynamic between an abuser and victim and is spoken from the perspective of the abuser. Since a lot of songs like this are spoken from the victim's point of view, I thought it would be a good change for people to experience being spoken to by an abusive person who, as in my song, tries to explain and defend why he does this which even he isn't always quite sure of thus touching on how abuse can be an awareness issue as they do not know the terror they are causing--which touches on a more complex aspect of animal/child/spousal abuse. But it's certainly true, so many people are in the dark ages when it comes to the subject of animal rights unless its a dog or cat. I use the word "pet" because it rides a fine line between different connotations which I wanted to express in the song. When you see the lyrics there is definitely some "say one thing and do the other" obliviousness that the abuser is guilty of. Normally I don't like to post lyrics since without the music they can seem weird but I decided I would send you them so you would know for sure what was being said in the song. There are many parts of this song that instantly bring about memories of the animal atrocities I've seen in videos as well as in the 4 minute video clip of the slaughterhouse footage Gary Yourofsky showed during his Georgia Tech speech. I think it would work well together with something like that. Pet
